About Me

I am from the Midwest, but currently reside in sunny Florida. I grew up in the country, but not farms. I always lived in subdivisions out in the country surrounded by farms. At age 14, I would ride my bike only about a mile to bail hay for a neighboring farmer. I did this until I was about 16. I grew up in a middle class to upper middle class family. I knew I would go to college, but was not mentally prepared straight out of college. I spent two (2) years active duty Army and four (4) years National Guard. The service prepared me for college.

In college I went through several majors, but ended up graduating with my Bachelor’s of Science in Civil Engineering. I have been working in my field since graduating college in 1999. During college I took a class in Fortran, which I hated. Mainly, I struggled with the syntax and didn’t have the right teacher. Recently, I started teaching myself Python and LOVED it!! I am, as of the writing of this post, currently taking a software engineering / web development bootcamp through USF.
